OK, so those of you that depend on a tripod to take your blog pictures... BLESS YOU. After dragging my tripod to not one, not two, but FOUR different outside locations, (and thanks to the nosy teenage girl that drove by 3 times) I finally decided to move indoors. And I'm still not happy with these pictures.... 2 hours later. How do you not get your head cut off in very picture!?!?!?!?

Had it not been for the tripod situation, I would've showed you guys the back of this shirt. It buttons up and really gives this outfit a li'l somethin' extra. It's a shame you missed it... Dang tripod.

  1. hehe i'm terrible at tripod photos!!! The very second i could convince my husband to take pictures for me i threw away my camera remote. I sucked at tripod!
Honestly though, these pictures are fantastic - i think you did a great job and i have serious hair envy right now :)

  3. Cuteness! Love it! I can't take photos with a tripod either! One of my siblings or mom take my photos. Usually when I try to take photos with a tripod my face comes out in the oddest manner-the weirdest faces you can think of! : )
Drop by my blog and say hi some time!

  5. Who cares if you only got two pictures-they are both stunning! Your hair looks AMAZING! And I am totally digging the color of your skirt-especially with those black booties!

  6. Take a test photo to establish your camera's boundaries, then estimate how far back you need to stand based
On lines in the tile, doorway, ceiling, grass mound, etc. I think the pictures look beautiful!

  10. I think you look great!! I can never get the background blurry, which is always what I'm going for. Well done - don't be too hard on yourself!

  11. I had Shane take my photos for just over a year, but now he's got his full time job and it gets dark so early I had to start using a tripod too! Seriously I sucked at it when I first started and got so frustrated, but now I sort of know how far the tripod should be from me to get them right, and I usually focus on a leaf/twig where I'm standing - it's so easy when you get used to it (and I actually prefer it now!!)

  12. regardless of the fact that you couldn't take good photos with a tripod, I love your shirt and your hair looks absolutely amazing!

  13. Using a tripod can take some getting used to and it really doesn't help when onlookers don't stay quiet...I have to say though these pictures came out great!!!

  14. tripods are tricky but your pics still came out great! i love the shirt and your hair is simply gorrrgeous

  15. Ahh, I know, tripods are so tricky! That's why I pretty much never take outfit pics anymore unless I have someone to help me! I think you managed pretty well though and your hair is perfect! :)

  16. It was awkward for me at first, with my tripod in public... but thankfully I can escape to an empty part of a park or behind a building and evade the awkward embarrassment... or I just drive to my sisters and have her take them :)

  19. These pictures look great despite what you think! Jessi is right, you have to take a test picture to figure out how far back to stand. I love your hat and bag, and you have the most beautiful hair!

  22. I got lucky that my husband is my photographer for the blog. I consider it payment for all the times I was his "voice activated light stand" and held the flash for him. :)

I love your ombre hair by the way. It's a tricky look to pull off, but you look stunning!

  24. Isn't tripod picture taking kind of the worst?! So limiting to what you're able to get and you just have to pretty much get lucky with how they turn out.

On a much more positive note, your hair looks fabulous!! I'm thinking of growing out my bangs and you've given me confidence that I can rock waves with a center part.

    xo.

  25. i can empathise with you big time. i have started taking photographs of myself for outfit posts but no tripods so i had to use my drawers...which was, ahem, always epic fail! i have no one to take the photos. i am thinking of getting a tripod but i cant see myself dragging it outside and taking photos of myself with public people looking. thats why my blog sadly lacks outfit posts when i really want to show my style and passion for fashion.

other than this, you look great! stripy top is a class

  26. Tripods are a bit of a pain and take some getting used to. But you'll get it eventually! I really love your striped top. I'd definitely like to see the buttons on it sometime. It looks great with that purple skirt.

  29. I somehow fell super behind on your blog but I'm so glad I stumbled upon it again! You are seriously so pretty, Kenzie! Your hair is swoon worthy! As for tripods, I rely on them for most of my photos, but recently got a new lens and I cannot seem to get myself in the frame - haha, it's so frustrating! Hopefully I'll get a better eye for it soon!

  31. oh i cut my head off regularly. i've started a folder of them. i also have a terrible tripod so the fact that i can even get semi straight, in focus pictures without the poor thing collapsing is a miracle. it's still mostly works though so it'll be sticking around.

  32. haha, you look fab here! i love using my tripod now that i have a remote. it's like my new fave hobby. real life usually gets in the way though. ;)

  33. oh i have this shirt! got it on sale and was really tempted to buy it in the other two colors. it's one of my favorites. also.. i was just thinking to myself that i need a taller tripod after a morning of outfit shooting in 15 degree weather. nearly gave myself pneumonia all for "too far away" photos.
